Well here we are in a terrible pickle! Yep, run a rescue for 6 years and start by rescuing any dog, BUT "not Bull breeds" - "you think you have to have confidence for those!" Your heart grows and suddenly a story pulls at those strings and you help your first.
Staffies stay around 'waiting' for a chance of a home, you start gaining confidence in them, in yourself and in the 'breed'. On your 3rd Staffie you understand just why they are so popular ... and it's nothing to do with their muscles ... well yes, it is their smile muscles! On the 4th Staffie you're hooked and you find yourself in their corner, defending them and standing up for them. You see their similarities to other terriers; not brilliant with all dogs, in all situations, but they are generally very good natured and very well intentioned.
One day you wake up in the middle of a nightmare. You feel their pain, you really respect, adore and love Staffies and all you can see is the abuse & neglect they suffer, the misuse, the dumping, the exploitation and finally, if they haven't endured enough already, then the culling! Want to help?
We are in serious financial trouble, we can't turn our backs and deny them when they ask: Aware that this conversation is this dog's last hope. Every time we say "yes"; it costs £220 per month for that dog until they find "The light at the end of their kennel". This on top of neutering costs, vaccinations, microchips, flea and worming treatments. Time & petrol given free by caring volunteers. So we say 'yes' and we hope ... and we pray.
Ways to help:
£10.00 will pay for a collar and worming tablet.
£15.00 will pay 2 days kennelling for one dog we have 30 in kennels
£25.00 will pay for one vaccination
£50.00 will neuter a male
£80.00 will spay a female.
